The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, made an institutional visit to the municipality of La Orotava this Wednesday and pointed out that the reform of the Teobaldo Power auditorium is an “essential” work for the town.
“We have to look for deadlines and margin so that this work is not left out of the cultural infrastructure plan of the Cabildo de Tenerife, and do so by seeking the regulatory fit and solving the paperwork it needs, because we are talking about a space that has special protection for be a historical heritage of undoubted value, “he commented at a press conference accompanied by the mayor of the north, Francisco Linares.
Martín has also highlighted that the “joint work” of the Cabildo with the City Council of La Orotava “does not take place only with a meeting in the plenary hall, it is a continuous commitment, for a long time, acquired by this team of the island Government by a a question of institutional loyalty, without a doubt, but also to ensure that commitment to citizens. “
Along these lines, he admitted that “the current economic situation has become very complicated with the pandemic, but that does not mean that commitments and projects have to be canceled, it means that they have to be rethought.”
The insular president also made reference to the future socio-sanitary center that he described as a necessity for citizens and, in addition, a “pending debt” with La Orotava.
In this regard, Martín indicated that “it does not seem reasonable” that they are “happy” to have found a location in the squares of the old Hospital de la Santísima Trinidad in the Hospital del Norte.
“The Hospital del Norte needs to have a space to provide hospital service, not to be a residence, there is a commitment from the Cabildo de Tenerife in this matter and we will leave the door open so that it can fit into the projects it has in progress and we are also going to try that there may be economic items that can be carried out, “he commented.
He also referred to other issues discussed at the meeting such as the improvement of the San Jerónimo industrial estate or the work to improve the TF-21, and recalled the investments that the island corporation is developing in employment or social matters, or even in modernization with city councils, programs, he said, “that did not exist before.”
As for the TF-21, he recalled that the work is in the bidding process, in the section located between kilometer points 0 and 4,700, as it passes through the municipalities of Santa Úrsula and La Orotava, with a budget of 1,944 .359 euros, and that the tender has already been approved by the Governing Council for the superficial rehabilitation of the TF-211 road surface along its entire length for 492,032 euros.

“There is still a lot of work to do, I think we are on the right track, working with a regional and island vision, and of course, assuming the acquired commitments,” he said.
Linares, for his part, pointed out that the “eight major lines of work” that the Cabildo has “committed” to the town “have been reviewed at the meeting, thanking Martín” that the commitments that came from the previous mandate have been kept intact. , which reflects a great institutional loyalty “.
These axes are the TF-21, the highway in the upper area that bypasses eight neighborhoods and through which not only cars move, but people on foot, the comprehensive reform of the Teobaldo Power Auditorium, the new social health center, a work that finances the Cabildo 100% and for which the City Council has granted a plot of 27,000 square meters, the San Jerónimo industrial estate and the Las Palmeras urbanization.
