The La Guancha City Council is involved in the fight against social isolation and unwanted loneliness among the elderly and dependents in the municipality. Through an agreement with the Association of Caregivers, Relatives and Friends of people with Dependence, Alzheimer’s and other Dementias (Acufade), a service will be launched that will serve some thirty guancheros and guancheras.
The mayor of La Guancha, Antonio Hernández (PP), and the mayor of Social Services, Auxiliadora Marrero, they met with the president of Acufade, Elena Felipe, to seal, this Tuesday, September 28, a collaboration agreement that will improve care for the most vulnerable people in the municipality.
This agreement, endowed with a budget of 44,000 euros, will allow to launch a service to promote personal autonomy, care for prolonged social isolation and unwanted loneliness in vulnerable people. It will include two programs, one of them aimed at reinforcing the Service for the Promotion of Personal Autonomy and another from Attention to Prolonged Social Isolation and Unwanted Loneliness in Vulnerable People. This is, in the words of Auxiliadora Marrero, “a very important step in the home care that we offer from the Department of Social Services to the neighbors who need it most ”.

The La Guancha City Council allocates an economic item of 44,000 euros for the start-up of the aforementioned service, for which it will have the services of a physical therapist, a psychologist and a social integration technician.
The validity of the agreement will be extended until December 31, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum of 4 years.
