The ‘Tenerife Urbano’ plan encourages non-federated modalities among young people

The Cabildo de Tenerife is developing a new edition of the Tenerife Urbano program to promote sport among the young population by bringing them closer to non-federated sports modalities, attractive to them and with which they fill our parks, squares and streets. The Minister of Sports, Concepción Rivero, points out that “this program takes modalities such as calisthenics, skate, BMX free style, parkour or urban dances to different municipalities on the island.” The island official adds in a note: “The idea is to attract young people to prevent them from abandoning sports, although the program is open to all audiences.” “We want them to interact and try these increasingly common sports on the street. As a counselor, I will support all sports, those who have the most licenses and followers, but also those called minorities, the new forms of expression that little by little are more widely known throughout society ”, Rivero adds.

The director of Tenerife Urbano, Ivo López, detailed the details of this edition, which will take place on October 16 in Icod de los Vinos; on the 23rd, in Puerto Santiago, in the municipality of Santiago del Teide, and on the 30th, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The program joins the activity carried out a few weeks ago in La Laguna to promote healthy lifestyle habits. López also indicated that the culmination of this festival will take place on November 28 with the Tenerife Urban Dance, “an unmissable event for dance lovers, who will compete on a stage in which Rafa Méndez, Aarón Mata and Mónica Peña ».
