SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Sep 28 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife is developing a new edition of the ‘Tenerife Urbano’ program to promote sport among the young population by bringing them non-federated sports modalities that are attractive and occupy parks, squares and streets.

The Sports Minister, Concepción Rivero, pointed out in the presentation that “this program brings modalities such as calisthenics, skate, BMX free style, parkour or urban dances to different municipalities of the island and the idea is to attract young people to prevent them from abandoning sports practice, although the program is open to all audiences “.

Thus, he adds that the goal is for them to interact and try these increasingly common sports on the street.

“As a counselor, I will support all sports, those who have the most licenses and followers, but also those called minority, the new forms of expression that little by little are more known throughout society,” he highlights.

The director of ‘Tenerife Urbano’, Ivo López, detailed the details of this edition, which will take place on October 16 in Icod de los Vinos; on the 23rd in Puerto Santiago, in the municipality of Santiago del Teide and on October 30 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

“The program joins the activity carried out a few weeks ago in La Laguna to promote healthy lifestyle habits and the transmission of values inherent to sport,” he commented.

López also indicated that the culmination of this festival will take place on November 28 with the ‘Tenerife Urban Dance’, an unmissable event for dance lovers, who will compete on a stage where Rafa Méndez, Aarón Mata and Mónica will act as jury. Pain.

The presentation was attended by the dancer and choreographer Rafa Méndez, who encouraged “to participate in this dance meeting, to give everything and show the work of young people in a competition open to all ages.”

In this way, from the age of 12 and without age limit, citizens are invited to get to know these urban disciplines closely, where what is sought is participation and not competition. The events are held in the evening hours.

During the presentation there was also an exhibition of calisthenics, skateboarding and bmx.
