The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, assured yesterday that the complaint filed by the works committee of the IASS (Institute of Social and Social Health Care of the Cabildo) and the union Assembly of Workers of the Canary Islands (ATC), for alleged irregularities in the transfer of the elderly from the Febles Campos hospital, has no “foundation”.
“When someone wants to pressure, they can file complaints, but I have not come here to scare myself, but to work, among other things, for the elderly,” said Pedro Martín, in statements to the media.
The insular president stressed that they are currently looking for the best solution for Febles Campos patients, so that “they can temporarily be in a suitable place.”
“I guarantee you that for this president and for the counselor Marián Franquet, one of the really important things is to get a suitable place for those who are in the Febles Campos,” he remarked.
Likewise, he assured that no one will be fired and that no elderly person will be left without a place. “The elderly will be transferred where appropriate, properly cared for, we will build the new center and there will be none who can lose their place,” he said.
Finally, the insular president affirmed that, if someone denounces because he understands that it is a way to “pressure” him or to get “some privilege”, it will be the courts that determine.
It should be remembered that the Court of Instruction Number 4 of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has opened criminal proceedings for the alleged crimes of prevarication, influence peddling and embezzlement of public funds related to the transfer of users from the Febles Campos center to the La Laguna seminary .
Last Monday’s judicial order was issued as a result of the criminal complaint filed by the IASS sole works committee and the ATC union against the president of the Cabildo and several councilors.
