The PP proposal, defended by the counselor Manuel Fernández in the Plenary Commission, included the need to undertake cycle lanes and steel in this project, “with the aim of improving road safety on this busy road.”
Manuel Fernández recently visited the area with the spokespersons of the Popular Party of both municipalities, Patricia Fernández and Eduardo Suárez, respectively, in a meeting that served to strengthen the commitment of political formation to promote similar initiatives in the municipalities of La Orotava and Santa Úrsula .
The project that the Cabildo is currently promoting on this road focuses on a section of almost 5 kilometers and has a budget of about two million euros. Fernández explains that «in the project to improve this road itself, the need to increase its safety is contemplated, due to the high traffic density, and that is why it is more surprising, if possible, that there has not been taking into account the need to enable sidewalks and bike lanes in the section on which the work is going to be carried out ”.
Fernández considers that «the logical thing for us is that since the Cabildo is going to make an investment to improve this road, it will be completed with sidewalks and a bike lane, with the aim, not only of improving road safety in the area, but also to meet the needs of the users of this road, which have been highlighted on numerous occasions by the representatives of the Popular Party, both in La Orotava and Santa Úrsula, since many pedestrians and cyclists circulate on it ”.
