SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Sep 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –
During the second quarter of this year, the judicial bodies of the Canary Islands registered the highest rate in Spain in lawsuits for dismissal per 100,000 inhabitants: 90.5, surpassing the Community of Madrid (86.4) and that of Catalonia (67, 5), according to the report Effects of the economic crisis on judicial bodies released Wednesday by the Statistics Section of the General Council of the Judiciary.
The number of dismissal demands registered in the judicial bodies of the Islands in the second quarter of this year was 1,964, 9.9 percent less than in the same period of 2020.
The study by the judges’ government points out that, between April and June of this year, the Archipelago was the fourth territory in the country with the highest rate of launches of all kinds practiced (34 per 100,000 inhabitants, only surpassed by Murcia, Cantabria and Valencia). The total number was 738; the fifth in the rate of launches derived from foreclosures (6.6, behind Murcia, Cantabria, Valencia and Castilla-La Mancha), with a total of 143, and the second in the rate of launches due to non-payment of rents ( 25.8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, only surpassed by the Balearic Islands), a total of 561.
With regard to civil lawsuits for housing occupation (squatters), the rate per 100,000 inhabitants of the Canary Islands was the fifth highest in Spain (2.3), behind Catalonia, Castilla-La Mancha, the Balearic Islands and Andalusia . 49 cases were processed in the second quarter of 2021.
STATE DATA.
With regard to the global analysis of the movement of affairs, the important effect that the COVID-19 pandemic had on the activity of judicial bodies in the second quarter of 2020 (when judicial activity remained at a minimum, with the population confined and suspended procedural deadlines) makes the comparison of the data of the second quarter of 2021 with those of the same period of the previous year is scarcely significant. For this reason, the report complements the data for this year with the evolutions compared to the second quarter of 2019.
Thus, with regard to national data, the number of launches carried out in the second quarter of 2021, 11,571, has been 736.7 percent higher than in the same quarter of 2020, while compared to the second quarter of 2019 a decrease of 21.2 percent has been observed.
69.4 percent of the launches, 8,028, were the result of procedures derived from the Urban Leasing Law (LAU), while another 2,849 (24.6%) were derived from foreclosures and the remaining 694 were due to other Causes.
The launches derived from foreclosures have experienced an increase of 849.7 percent compared to the same quarter of 2020 and a decrease of 25.3 percent compared to the corresponding one in 2019. Those derived from the Urban Leasing Law have increased by 692, 5 percent compared to a year ago, while in relation to the same quarter of 2019 they have decreased by 18.9 percent. Those derived from other causes have increased by 891.4 percent compared to the second quarter of 2020 and have suffered a decrease of 28.4 percent compared to 2019.
Catalonia – with 2,624, 22.7 percent of the national total – has been the Autonomous Community in which the most launches were made in the second quarter of 2021, followed by Andalusia, with 1,794; the Valencian Community, with 1,760, and Madrid, with 1,178.
Considering only the launches resulting from procedures derived from the LAU, Catalonia also appears in first place, with 1,904, 23.7 percent of the national total; followed by Andalusia, 1,185, the Valencian Community, 1,070, and Madrid, with 930. Regarding the derivatives of mortgage foreclosures, the Valencian Community leads the list, with 641, followed by Andalusia, with 492; Catalonia, 453; and Murcia, 247.
The report also includes the number of launches requested from the common services of notifications and embargoes, although with the warning that this service does not exist in all judicial districts, so the data allows to measure the evolution, but does not indicate the absolute values . Furthermore, the fact that a launch is requested from the common service does not imply that it has executed it.
With these premises, the available data reflects that the number of launches requested to common services in the second quarter of 2021 was 18,574, 167.1 percent more than in the same quarter of 2020, and 0.11 percent less. than in 2019. Of these, 9,259 finished with positive compliance, which represents a year-on-year increase of 877.7 percent and a decrease of 15 percent compared to 2019.
