The Buenavista del Norte City Council has invested during this year more than 90,000 euros in the conditioning and improvement of the educational centers of the municipality. An expense that multiplies by four the usual figure of previous years, in which that item has remained at an average of 20,000 euros. In 2021, the local government (Yes you can-CC) It has chosen to increase spending to face structural safety works and equipment, as well as to attend to requests from the management teams.
The action that has entailed the highest cost, of almost 33,000 euros, is the repair of structures of the Nicolás Díaz Dorta school, the main educational center of Buenavista del Norte, located in a building owned by the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands and with an antiquity of more than 40 years. In addition to repairing and painting the façade, the kitchen extraction system has been relocated and the exterior fencing has been replaced.
It has also acted in the school of Triana, center associated with Nicolás Díaz Dorta; the school of La Cuesta, and nursery school, which is in the process of opening. The councilor for education, Esteban Lorenzo (SSP), assures that making this investment has meant “an effort on the part of the city council”, which he hopes can be maintained in the next few years since the educational centers of the municipality “are old and the maintenance work carried out is still insufficient”.
Furthermore, Lorenzo considers it necessary that “The Regional Ministry of Education is aware of the needs of the centers and of the impossibility on the part of the municipalities to undertake actions of such magnitude with their own funds”.
