Traffic cuts and diversions in the Martiánez tunnel for its comprehensive resurfacing



The Cabildo de Tenerife will begin the rehabilitation of the firm of the Martiánez tunnel, in the municipality of Puerto de la Cruz, at kilometer point 3,700 of the TF-31 insular highway.

As reported by the corporation, 100,000 euros have been invested for the work and action will be taken “in a comprehensive manner, given its current degradation, removing the pavement and resurfacing during the nights of Sunday 19 and Monday 20 September”.

According to the insular counselor for Highways, Enrique Arriaga, the deterioration of the pavement of the TF-31 insular highway at this point requires immediate action: “The so-called pothole is no longer enough given the important deficiencies found along of more than 300 meters of firm. The best option is to replace all the old asphalt ”, he explains.

For the insular director of Roads, Tomás Félix García, this action will suppose an “effective and lasting solution over time” that will notably increase road safety and driving comfort on this section.

The works, which will last two days, will be carried out at night, between 10:00 p.m. and 06:00 a.m., to reduce the impact on circulation.

Due to the nature of the work, it will be necessary to cut and divert traffic.

For its correct execution and increase safety, there will be a traffic signaling and regulation equipment, in addition to beacons and lighting.
