Agents of the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas have arrested six people who allegedly were engaged in the commission of crimes of robbery with force of things in homes and commercial and industrial establishments located in Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
With these six arrests ends the ‘Daravica’ police operation, which began last February as a result of the detection of a criminal organization based in the Archipelago, with active members in both provinces and jointly composed of Spanish citizens and of Kosovar origin, dedicated to the commission of crimes of robbery with force.
The Organic Unit of Judicial Police of the Command of the Civil Guard of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, within the framework of the fight against organized crime, detected the presence of a group of citizens of Balkan origin who, acting together with Spanish citizens, were They dedicated themselves to the commission of robberies with force in things in different parts of the national geography, making it their way of life, in such a way that tasks and functions were distributed that guaranteed them that their crimes were executed successfully.
From the surveillance carried out by the agents, it was possible to establish that said criminal organization was structured in two subgroups, one settled on the island of Tenerife and the other on the island of Gran Canaria, each of them acting autonomously, without prejudice to collaborations. between them.
In addition to being permanently settled in the Canary Islands, the members of this criminal organization traveled to different parts of the country with the aim of continuing their criminal activity. They made short trips to different provinces, where they stayed for a short period on an itinerant basis, carried out the robberies and returned to their places of residence.
Once enough information had been collected by the investigating agents, the police operation was exploited where five house searches were carried out in the towns of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, San Cristóbal de La Laguna and Telde and in which it was possible to recover a large number of objects that had been stolen.
It was also possible to clarify four crimes of robbery with force in things and one crime of robbery or theft of vehicle use committed in the towns of Tacoronte, Arona, Agüimes and La Orotava, which were investigated in different provinces of the national territory, and In addition, numerous tools were intervened, both manual and electrical, of those used for the commission of this type of crime.
The specialization of the components of this criminal organization stands out, in which the tasks of each of them were clearly defined, highlighting their skill in making butrones (breaking walls, ceilings or floors) and in opening safes.
Its components are people with a long criminal history, who had made the commission of this type of crime their way of life, improving their operational methods over time and taking great security measures to avoid being detected by the police forces.
Among the different objects seized during the different arrests, a thermal lance, a large hammer drill, an electric shock gun, two drones, a compressed air weapon, two battery drills, a grinder, a plate stand out. of the National Police, portable transmitters, numerous manual tools and a large amount of clothing that can be used to hide the face.
Said investigation was directed by the titular judge of the Court of Instruction number 2 of those of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, and by the Prosecutor’s Office Attached to the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
