The Mayor of Santiago del Teide, Emilio Navarro, recently signed the act of initiation of the urbanization works of the meeting between El Sol and Quinto Centenario streets of Puerto de Santiago, for which the City Council has allocated a municipal investment of € 95,444.00.
The project includes, in a general way, the improvement of the pedestrian walkway and the sidewalk where these streets meet, the improvement of the sanitation network, the placement of new urban furniture and the improvement of energy efficiency in said area.
To improve access to the pedestrian promenade from Calle El Sol, the existing sidewalk will be expanded to a width of 1 m. To do this, it will be necessary to demolish a 2m section of the retaining wall and build a new one 1 m from the curb of the Sidewalk. Between the sidewalk and the promenade a ramp will be generated to access it. To contain the sidewalk, it will be necessary to build a retaining wall of it approximately 50 cm high and 8 m long. The sidewalk will continue with a width of 1.80 m attached to the base of the wall until its connection with the sidewalk on Avenida Quinto Centenario.
Between the sidewalk and the parking area, a 1.80 m wide gardened and gated area will be built. Likewise, the pavement of the pedestrian promenade will be demolished. A new pavement will be laid, both on the promenade and on the new sidewalk, consisting of a red porphyry tile measuring 20×30 cm and 6 cm thick. The access ramp will be paved with red porphyry pavers measuring 8×8 cm and 8 cm thick.
The baluster will be demolished and a stainless steel railing will be placed on the top of the retaining walls of the promenade and the sidewalk. In addition, three wooden benches will be installed on the promenade and two wastebaskets.
Finally, the beautification stones will be eliminated from the outer face of the retaining wall of the promenade and it will be painted, a mural will be installed and the parking space will be reorganized creating 5 spaces, one of them reserved for people with reduced mobility and a loading and unloading space.
