The automation in the collection of taxes in the municipality of Santa Cruz continues to advance, so that, before the end of the year, taxpayers will be able to design themselves the tax payment plan with the terms and amounts they decide through the municipal website. “Since January, citizens could already request this personalized payment plan, either online or in person at municipal offices. This meant going through the process and waiting for the request to be accepted, and receiving the detailed plan. Now, we calculate that before the end of the year, taxpayers will not have to request the plan and wait for a response, but will be able to design it themselves through the municipal website, and activate it on the fly, which will speed up payment even more. of taxes”. This was explained to DIARIO DE AVISOS by the Councilor for the Treasury of the Santa Cruz City Council, Juan José Martínez, who trusts that this new advance will further help residents in paying municipal taxes.
The mayor recalled that the deadline for the voluntary payment of taxes ends this Friday, September 17, a period that this year has been increased by four months to alleviate the effects that COVID may have had on family economies. The taxes that have to be paid in this first term are those of the contribution, the filming, the garbage rate, the fords or the rate for private use or special use of property in the public domain.
Precisely, so that families can face the payment of these taxes, Martínez defends that the personalized payment plan has been created, “a tool with which taxpayers can divide the payment of taxes into up to 10 installments throughout one year”.
Other milestones in which the municipal administration continues to advance is in the direct debit of receipts, whose percentage now reaches 42%. “We cannot forget that, when we started to encourage this form of payment, only 20% of the receipts were domiciled, now we are at 42%”. In this way, and according to data from the Department of Finance, of the almost 56 million euros collected, more than 23 million have already been domiciled. In 2020 there were 22 million taxes that were paid by direct debit, which represents a growth of more than two percentage points in 2021 compared to last year. These same data transferred to receipts supposes that 143,735 have been domiciled this year, 9% more than in 2020. The mayor of the Treasury recalls that from today the domiciled receipts will begin to be loaded, a form of payment that has a 3 % discount on the total payment.

On the other hand, today, the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, accompanied by the first deputy mayor, Guillermo Díaz Guerra, and by the mayor of the Treasury himself, will present new tax cuts for next year, of which they have only advanced that “At no time will they imply a reduction in the municipal collection capacity, or in the quality of the provision of services.”
