The Santa Cruz City Council has announced a new tax reduction that will come into effect on January 1 and that affects more than 90,000 families and more than 12,000 companies, which will see a reduction in the garbage rate.
Specifically, the rate of garbage to families is reduced by 10.5%, of which 925, considered vulnerable, will not pay for the garbage.
As for SMEs, the discount for the garbage rate will be 100% for all those with less than 1,000 square meters. That means more than 12,000 companies.
To compensate for this drop in income, the IBI is raised to 35 large owners. According to the mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, most of the taxed properties belong to public administrations and financial entities.
