More than 40 illegal settlements with about 80 people evicted on the south coast of Tenerife

The City Council of Granadilla de Abona, a municipality in the south of Tenerife, and the Provincial Coastal Service proceeded last Thursday, September 9, to evict the existing illegal settlements in the coastal area between La Mareta and the Agua Dulce area. , in Los Abrigos, and in which there were more than 80 people and around 40 rooms along an area of ​​one kilometer.

After an inspection and prior communication was carried out a few weeks ago to inform of the day on which this action would take place, early in the morning of Thursday the vacating of this point of the coast began, with representatives of the Provincial Directorate of Costas, the Local Police and the Civil Guard, as well as personnel from the General Services area and the public company Sermugran, who were in charge of the cleaning and disinfection operation.

The City Council points out that already in July 2020 an eviction was also carried out in this same area of ​​the coast, which was reoccupied in October of the same year. The Consistory, he explains, once again informed Costas of this situation and reiterated the need to act again at this point in the territory.

The City Council insists that it is necessary for the competent administration to carry out surveillance and monitoring work and prevent it from happening again like last year; having already a commitment in this regard.
