Los Realejos has taken a key step to improve the quality of life of this group with a simple action, since a bathroom for ostomates simply requires a space with an interior sink, a table in front of a mirror and a container for organic waste. The Consistory has had to request permission from Costas to carry out this action, through the Department of Public Buildings of the Royal City Council.
The mayor of Los Realejos, Manuel Domínguez (PP), visited the facility this week and reported its commissioning, thus fulfilling the municipal commitment that had been acquired with Aceiio and corroborated by plenary agreement. The councilor in charge of the Municipal Buildings area, José Andrés Pérez (PP), explained that “once the mandatory favorable report for this intervention was obtained by Costas, the complete renovation work of these toilets was carried out, placing the appropriate sanitary furniture for ostomized people, a work that has been carried out hand in hand with the representatives of the aforementioned group, who have supervised the work, have helped us to obtain the best possible result and to whom we thank for their involvement and push to make it a reality ”.
The mayor recalled that “this type of adaptation in public infrastructures toilets in Los Realejos will be made progressively in other municipal spaces, in order to provide these people with inflammatory bowel disease and ostomy places suitable for their circumstances and improve their quality of life.
Councilor José Andrés Pérez recalled that “with the expansion works of the municipal offices of Social Services in the building annexed to the Los Realejos City Council, it is already planned to incorporate another adapted toilet with these characteristics and the adaptation of several more in various public enclaves of the municipality ».
