The construction of a new plaza in the lagoon neighborhood of La Piterita has already started. The movements of earth in the plot of more than 1,000 square meters have just given way to the works of greater depth for this project, which includes a playground and a space as a stage for the neighbors of the area to have a place in which to develop your celebrations, become a reality in the first semester of next year, as reported yesterday by the City of La Laguna.
The mayor of the municipality, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, and the Councilor for Works, Infrastructure and Accessibility, Josimar Hernández, visited the site yesterday to check the progress of the intervention, which has an estimated execution period of six months and 10 days.
The local councilor explained that the construction of this new recreation area “is being developed on a land owned by the municipality that was unused.” According to technical criteria, it was determined that “the surface meets the appropriate conditions to respond to a historical claim from the neighbors of this neighborhood, who have been demanding for years a square where they can spend their free time and hold their celebrations and meetings ”.
The mayor added that, at the same time, they are studying the possibilities of the area to enable new parking bags.
Characteristics
The plot is located, specifically, next to La Piterita road and Añaten and Tacorise streets and, in its 1,432 total square meters, it includes a square with a natural stone floor and a platform as a stage. These two levels will be connected by ramps and the enclosure, surrounded by vegetation, will have three longitudinal steps, two stairs and a stepped ramp. It will also have ramps from the perimeter roads, with access from its four corners.
The start of this action, with an award budget of 192,600 euros, “is the result of the effort made by the City Council -especially by the staff of the Department of Works, Infrastructure and Accessibility- to fulfill one of our main tasks: to provide solution to those needs of the lagoons and lagoons that have not been answered for years, ”said the mayor.
The future square will have its main entrance at the corner of the confluence of Añaten street and La Piterita road, allowing the circulation of vehicles, and will also include about 90 linear meters of sidewalk, street lights and urban furniture.
