An 86-year-old man died this Tuesday after being taken out of the sea with symptoms of drowning on the beach of El Cabezo, in Güímar.
The events took place at 12:14 when the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received a call from the lifeguard on the beach indicating that they were practicing resuscitation maneuvers on a man who had been taken from the water with signs of drowning.
Upon arrival at the scene, the SUC staff confirmed that he was in cardiorespiratory arrest and continued with the advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, although they were unsuccessful, for which the death of this person was confirmed.
The Civil Guard activated the corresponding judicial protocol and the Local Police collaborated with health resources.
