The City Council of Tacoronte, through its Tourism area, is working on the preparation of its first Strategic Tourism Plan, for which it continues to collect information from the sectors involved in the activity and seeking a consensus for the future development of the sector through analysis of its potentialities and the improvement of its weaknesses.
Within this process, a meeting was recently held with the Professional Association of Guides of Tenerife, which highlighted “the potential and the essence of the tourist offer that the municipality has.” The visit consisted of a tour of the accessible trail in the Agua García forest and the Los Guardianes Centenarios trail; a meeting at the Roots Macaronesia garden center, and a tour of two essential elements of the local heritage, such as the Sanctuary of Cristo de Los Dolores and the old convent of San Agustín.
The experts summoned by the Consistory of Tacoronte made a “very high” assessment of the heritage, landscape and environmental aspects of the municipality, and warned of “some rectifiable weaknesses”, such as the need to enable parking spaces for tourist buses. For the president of this group, Laura Bethencourt, «Tacoronte has a lot of tourist potential, since it only needs small adaptations. When the changes to get closer to the sector are very great, we lose the essence “.
