The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands temporarily suspended the execution of the expansion work of the Tacoronte Health Center on August 24 to modify the project to adapt the electrical installation and guarantee the maintenance of the office while the works are being carried out . Given the criticism of CC-PNC for this stoppage and foreseeable delay, the PSOE, through the regional deputy Nira Fierro, has guaranteed its continuity: “It is a temporary matter that will be solved shortly.”
This action will increase the area of the Tacoronte Health Center by 35%, which currently continues to serve 30,412 users with an Individual Health Card (TSI) from the Tacoronte-El Sauzal Basic Health Zone. The work, now temporarily paralyzed, will allow the installation of a Continuous Care Point (PAC) for emergencies in the Health Center; a physiotherapy unit and a community mental health unit, which will also serve the population of the municipalities of La Matanza and La Victoria, 15,820 more people.
The technicians have determined that «in order to process the mandatory partial legalizations, the project must be structured in clearly identified phases, and this situation does not currently exist, requiring its modification, in addition to the provisional adaptation works necessary to facilitate the transfers that are currently demanded and that allow the continuity of the execution of the works ”.
In addition, the Health report details that “the current continuity of the work is not feasible, since transfers are required to facilitate the continuity of the work, and in the current conditions such transfers could not be carried out.”
The president and deputy for Tenerife of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Nira Fierro, assures that the work “will continue after the changes that are expected to be made in the initial reform project.” He explains that it is a matter “strictly technical and administrative, a temporary matter that will be solved shortly.”
