The day centers and occupations attached to the Institute for Social and Socio-Health Action (IASS) open on Monday. With this, activity is resumed in the occupational centers of Valle Colino and Verodes, as well as in the day centers of the Hospital de los Dolores and the Reina Sofía Psychic Handicapped Care Center (CAMP), located in the municipality of Güímar. In the latter, the incorporation of users will take place gradually, to the extent that transport routes are recovered. The autonomous body of the Cabildo of Tenerife yesterday made “an effort to contact family members and facilitate their incorporation as of Monday.”
This is explained by the third vice president and counselor of Social Action, Marián Franquet, who also reports that the IASS Dependency Attention Unit contacted the entire network of subsidized centers to report on the actions that are being carried out and be available to offer advice if required. Each direction must decide on the opening and there have been many centers of the network that confirmed yesterday the restart of the activity from the day after tomorrow.
The counselor Marián Franquet assures that in the Institute of Social and Socio-Health Action “We are aware of how important the opening of day centers is for their users”, remembering that they are older people and people with disabilities. It is also important “for their families, which is made possible by conciliation, in many cases.”
Franquet Navarro clarifies that the resumption of activity in day and occupational centers as of Monday is a measure that only affects those that are directly managed by the IASS. The Minister of Social Action stresses that “it will be those responsible for the rest of the centers on the Island who determine whether or not they will reopen, and, if it is carried out, when it will occur.”
Marián Franquet announced on July 7 the preventive closure of day centers and occupations that depend on the Insular Corporation and occupational workers, following the recommendations of the Ministry of Health as a result of the rise in covid cases that affected the Island.
