On June 4, the first stone of the work that will provide Valleseco beach with a first-class bathing area was laid. From that moment, the machinery was put into operation so that, at the end of the year, the first concrete blocks that will make up the dikes that will shape the bathing platforms that make up the Sol y Sombra project can begin to be placed in the sea. . Thus, and as confirmed by the Port Authority, so far 450 blocks, of 9 tons each, have already been manufactured for the docks. 12,000 cubic meters of material (all one and breakwater) have also been dumped into the sea for the formation of the bathing platforms.
The manufacture of these blocks is being carried out on the coast of Valleseco itself, a space that has a capacity to accommodate 1,000, of the 1,200 blocks planned in this first phase of the work. As confirmed by the port of the capital, when that figure is reached, manufacturing will have to leave that area, and will begin to develop on the plot of the fishing dock. According to the calculations of the Port Authority, it will be in mid-September when manufacturing can begin in that new area, doing so before the block ceiling that the current location allows is reached, and thus avoiding collapses in the spaces. The plot of the fishing dock occupies 6,400 square meters.
These first pieces will be used in the construction of the so-called hammer dam, the closest to the Cidemat facilities, which will have a length of 120 meters long and a maximum width of ten meters.
For this, the aforementioned tasks of filling the seabed with previously selected quarry material have already begun, as established in the corresponding Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The breakwater and, finally, the aforementioned blocks will be poured over said material.
This initial phase of the works will also require the corresponding verification and compliance works with the measures included in the EIS, and in the approved environmental monitoring program, documents that include monthly visits to the work to check aspects such as the review of waste. , to studies of turbidity, noise and air quality.
The works are divided into three groups of actions, specifically the Playa de Charcos, Pantalanes and Defensas Marítimas. Thus, in the so-called Playa de Charcos, a bathing area (272 linear meters of coastline length) will be prepared whose ground surfaces will be more or less flooded depending on the tides. It will also have a promenade and relationship area, (350 linear meters) that constitutes the articulating platform of the complex and from which the pedestrian access is produced from the promenade of Anaga avenue as well as to the Playa de la Arena de Valleseco.
There will also be two pedestrian walkways, the so-called Ladera Verde, a landscaped and wooded rest space, as well as a sheltered threshold for Playa de Charcos, the Plaza-Terraza, a service space for users of Playa de Charcos with outdoor showers and area as a hall from the sea. This unit of action closes the Plaza Norte, a general service reception space for Playa de Charcos.
In the area of pontoons, these structures will be manufactured that constitute the elements that delimit the water of the Playa de Charcos, as a bathing and sports area, offering platforms for rest, games and a solarium. These are tropical wood surfaces on a marine aluminum structure, anchored to the seabed with micropiles.
