The Cabildo is putting out to tender the construction of a roundabout on the TF-652 island highway as it passes through Guargacho, a town shared by the municipalities of San Miguel de Abona and Arona. This action seeks to solve “the serious problems of traffic safety and service capacity of this road.” It connects Las Chafiras with Las Galletas and also serves as access to Costa del Silencio, Las Rosas, Guargacho and Oroteanda Baja.
For the first vice president and insular counselor of Roads, Enrique Arriaga, the construction of this infrastructure “will help reduce the number of accidents in the area, a road considered as a section of concentration of accidents (TCA)”. Arriaga points out that this will give fluidity to traffic in a section through which thousands of vehicles circulate daily. From the Cabildo, we work to eliminate the sections of concentration of accidents from all the roads of the island network and to reduce the number of accidents and victims.
The insular director of Roads, Tomás Félix García, details that with the construction of the Guargacho roundabout, traffic is reordered, both road and pedestrian, and the access of vehicles from Guargacho and Costa del Silencio is modified. Remember that this road “gives access to important residential and tourist centers of San Miguel and Arona.”
Once awarded, the work will have an execution period of six months and a budget of 527,058 euros.
