Street vendors will be able to take their products through the towns and neighborhoods of the municipality, thanks to an initiative in which they work from the Department of Commerce of the City of La Laguna. The Consistory reported yesterday in a note that it is working with the neighborhood and commercial groups of the different districts in the elaboration of the Municipal Plan of Traveling or Non-Sedentary Sales, a rule that will organize the spaces on public land for this activity, in the which include the so-called food trucks or gastronetas.
The responsible councilor, María José Roca (United), highlights “the involvement of the different sectors and citizens to achieve a document of consensus and as much participation as possible, which allows us to complement and reinforce economic activity in towns and neighborhoods” .
This Plan will develop the Municipal Ordinance of Street Vending and will regulate and specify the number, characteristics, schedule, dates and location of the stalls that may be authorized for the exercise of street vending in the entirety of La Laguna, for which purpose It will take into account reasons of general interest, such as security, public health or the protection of the environment. “In addition, it will establish a public and transparent granting procedure, so that all interested parties can access these authorizations on equal terms,” says Roca.
A team of professionals has been working since May on technical organization and planning by sectors and, since last August, an extensive schedule of visits and meetings with various business and neighborhood associations in the six districts of the municipality has been developed. The purpose of these meetings is to detect possible areas for the location of the sales spaces on public land and to know, “first hand”, the places where this activity has traditionally been carried out. From the City Council they add that they have already met with neighborhood associations in La Laguna.
