The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has proceeded to close the Roque de Las Bodegas beach, in Anaga, after a new discovery of hydrocarbon remains, according to the Municipal Operational Coordination Center in its official Twitter account. For this reason, CECOPAL recommends that citizens do not bathe on this beach.
The Consistory decided to prohibit users from bathing on this beach and on Almáciga beach last Monday, due to the presence of the spill.
Likewise, as yesterday progressed, hydrocarbons made a presence in the sandy areas of the Tenerife towns of Güímar and Candelaria, whose councilors activated security protocols in order to preserve the health of bathers. For this reason, the closure was also decreed, it was decreed in the popular beaches of El Cabezo, Las Caletillas and Puntalarga.
In this regard, sources from the Maritime Captaincy have declared to DIARIO DE AVISOS who are currently monitoring the spots, but admit that, in principle, they are not serious. In addition, as they indicate, although the satellite did not detect the hydrocarbon remains on the same day it was found on the ground, it does remain awaiting another reconnaissance.
