The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, and the Minister of Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda, Ione Belarra, will sign today at the headquarters of the Presidency of the island of Tenerife the collaboration agreement for the execution of projects charged to the Funds Europeans from the Mechanism for Recovery and Resilience. At around 10.50 am, the president will receive the minister in the company of the Minister for Social Rights, Equality, Diversity and Youth, Noemí Santana.
The departments of the Government of the Canary Islands have stipulated projects valued at about 1,100 million euros provisionally in the 2021 year. Specifically, the Ministry of Social Rights opts for 57.6 million, which will serve to alleviate the deficiencies in the area. Among other problems, the traffic jam in the management of long-term benefits, which prevents almost three out of ten people with recognized help from receiving it. Canarias takes an average of two and a half years to carry out evaluations and individual care programs (PIA) of applicants.
