SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug 31 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The vice president of the Government of the Canary Islands and Minister of Finance, Román Rodríguez, said this Tuesday that his political formation (NC) in Tenerife has “very clear” his rejection of the construction of the port of Fonsalía, in Guía de Isora, and will make a decision definitive in the national executive of next September 11.

In an interview with ‘Canarias Radio La Autonómica’ and collected by Europa Press, he explained that this project “should be reviewed” because “it is very complicated” to be carried out while highlighting that “it is not in the pact” of the Government. of the Canary Islands and therefore, they are not “obliged” to propose it.

Rodríguez has indicated that the most urgent thing in Los Cristianos is to “improve” traffic and, in light of the construction of the port of Fonsalía, he believes that there are “alternatives” that can go through an underground route, as proposed by the mayor of Arona, José Julián Mena. , or enable the port of Granadilla for passengers, as it is “almost stopped after a huge controversy.”

He has insisted that 25 years after the project arose “a role has not been moved” and maintains that the Minister of Ecological Transition of the Canary Government, José Antonio Valbuena, “understands a lot” and defends that with the new environmental impact law there will be no favorable report, plus the refusal of the State, which “always” has been “against”.

Rodríguez has commented that this port is “very reviewable” for environmental, cost and opportunity reasons and gives as an example the expansion of the port of Agaete, in Gran Canaria, which was paralyzed when the work was awarded because there was a “contrary public opinion” from an environmental point of view, which forced the company to be compensated.
