The Cabildo de Tenerife has decreed the emergency of the road works TF-66, between Las Galletas and El Fraile, in the municipality of Arona, after it occurred, as a result of the erosion of the sea, the collapse of the retaining wall that supported it, the emptying of the fill material that supported the road and the subsequent collapse of part of the platform.
The first vice president and counselor for Roads, Enrique Arriaga, explains that “The intervention requires, immediately, the execution of a retaining wall that allows to give stability to the road, as well as the filling of the road area that collapsed”.
“The works will begin immediately and will be finished in a month; we have to act quickly to prevent spring tides from continuing to strip the structural elements of the containment system and completely submerge the track”, Points out Arriaga.
The insular director of Roads, Tomás Félix García, indicates that “in order to work safely it will be necessary to make specific cuts in the road and circulate with alternative traffic. It is essential to strictly comply with the setting and foundation times for this section of the Las Galletas crossing ”.
In addition, Garcia asks “drivers who circulate in the area to take extreme precautions and follow the instructions of the operators who work in the area.”
The budget with which this emergency action has been endowed is 178,873 euros and it is expected to be completed in 30 days.
