After 17 months closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Hotel Botánico del Puerto de la Cruz has reopened its doors to the public with completely renovated facilities in which natural light and design have a special role.

Perhaps one of the most impressive changes is the new entrance canopy to the hotel, with a steel structure with a glass roof, and its new facade, in which the terracotta color has been changed for a current combination of the white of the building with the details decoration in wood and existing vegetation, offering a more luminous and modern appearance.

The reception area has also been modified, with a new counter, another color on the walls, luxurious marble floors and a spectacular sculptural lamp with more than 800 sheets of glass suspended on a 450 kg amethyst that offers an impressive set of light.

One of the objects that most attracts the attention of its guests is an aquarium with 10 jellyfish of the species Chrysaora Fuscencens, which promote relaxation and disconnection and make their arrival a welcoming experience.

The pool area has been completely renovated, changing the tiles in the solarium area with new stairs, showers and luxurious furniture, while in the gardens a luxurious piped music and lights have been installed in the style of Arabian Nights. Likewise, we have proceeded to renew the furniture and place outdoor stoves that allow you to enjoy the environment even more.

Regarding the rooms, new reading lights have been incorporated in the headboards of the bed, all LCD televisions have been replaced by Smart TVs between 48 and 52 inches and the installation of plugs and USBs has been reinforced, to facilitate the connection of the guest at any time they need it.

In addition, a Nespresso coffee machine has been incorporated in the entire Ambassador Junior Suite and higher category, with daily and free replacement of capsules, and kettles with tea and coffee in all Deluxe Double rooms.

All these novelties were presented yesterday during an act chaired by the president of the group Parrot park, Wolfgang Kiessling, in which the mayor of the city, Marco González; the president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Pedro Martín; He and Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Yaiza Castilla.

The first to speak was the mayor of the city, who stressed the importance of the opening of this emblematic establishment in Puerto de la Cruz, “which is proving to be the epicenter of culture for the entire Archipelago and which marks the destination as preferred and also safe ”.

In this sense, the president took the opportunity to ask the administrations to “continue helping the Port to position itself in the place it deserves so that it can once again become that destination that combines experience with economic recovery.”

For his part, Pedro Martín referred to the “illusion” of the Kiessling family that is reflected in the new commitment to the hotel and to Puerto de la Cruz and had nothing but words of praise for their initiative. “Political leaders can start up rehabilitation consortia, such as the one in Puerto de la Cruz, but none of these proposals make sense if there is behind an entrepreneurial spirit wanting to promote destiny, as in this case, and it does so because it believes at. With proposals such as those of the Botánico Hotel, Puerto de la Cruz stands alone ”, said Martín.

A tourist gem

Yaiza Castilla referred to the establishment as “one of the tourist jewels of the Canary Islands that shines again, perhaps, more than the first day” and assured that “it was a source of pride for tourism in the Canary Islands”.

Wolfang Kiessling recalled that the hotel is 47 years old, 26 of which belong to the Loro Parque group. He commented that at the time his family acquired the property there was also a crisis situation and yet he continued with his objective from then on. Years later it has obtained its fruits, it is the only five-star in the municipality, one of the most luxurious and sophisticated of the Archipelago, and has witnessed important visits, such as the royal family of Thailand and the Spanish Royal House for the security it offers.
“We have bet once again on Puerto de la Cruz,” insisted Kiessling and thanked all the staff, who worked tirelessly so that the renovation could be a reality in the established time.

A technological and health safety bet

The reopening of the facilities coincided with a major technological renovation that includes its new corporate identity and website, adapted to the digital and technological needs of the current guest. To this end, a reinforcement of the Wi-Fi coverage has been incorporated throughout the hotel with three lines of 1,000 megabytes of optical fiber, together with the digitization of common processes, such as online check-in or contactless payment management. All this without forgetting the health part due to Covid-19. Thus, the hotel has incorporated all the protocols required to ensure a comfortable and safe stay.
