SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The organization of the ‘Mueca Festival’, made up of the Puerto de la Cruz City Council and the Cómplices Mueca Platform, has unanimously decided this Friday to move its celebration to the month of November, between the 25th and 28th.
The decision is caused by the current level 4 health alert situation that hinders its development on the dates initially planned, from September 2 to 5.
The organization points out in a statement that the festival is distinguished by developing part of its activities in the street and therefore has the expectation that the epidemiological situation of the island will improve from the current level 4, in addition to giving more margin to the advancement of the vaccination, especially in the younger population, which is one of the largest audiences that comes with their families to the different shows.
Likewise, the organization sends a message of responsibility to society in general, and to Porto in particular, so that all citizens continue to show all their “commitment and responsibility” to reduce the rate of infections on the island and this allows the celebration of the festival as normal as possible.
‘Mueca’ could be held last year thanks to the effort and work of all the parties involved, which made it possible for more than 3,000 spectators to witness the shows in limited venues adapted to the sanitary regulations in force at that time, being an example of sanitary safety for the cultural sector of both the islands and the rest of the national territory.
In fact, it deserved the cultural insignia shared with ‘Phe Festival’ as the best festivals in the Canary Islands, according to the barometer carried out by the Contemporary Foundation that collects the opinion of professionals in the sector at the national level.
