As of Monday, Titsa readjusts the bus service that has been in effect since July 10 in the Güímar Valley. It includes the start-up of express line 128, which will link Arafo, Güímar and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, as well as the reactivation of line 126, highly demanded by users and which connects the Güímar Valley with the Guajara campus and the Our Lady of La Candelaria Hospital (Hunsc).
The new line 128, which will make a quick route between Güímar and Arafo and from there it will continue along the TF-525 (from La Hidalga to El Carretón) until it joins the South highway (TF-1), with stops at the links of the Valle de Güímar Industrial Park, Candelaria, Las Caletillas, Barranco Hondo, Tabaiba, Radazul, La Campana Park, the Costanera Urbanization, Añaza and Hoya Fría, until reaching Santa Cruz.
Likewise, the schedules of lines 120, 121, 122 and 142 will be updated to improve connections and line 126 will be reactivated to directly link the Güímar Valley with the Guajara campus and the Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria Hospital. In addition, Route 127 –which runs from Güímar station to Candelaria, passing through La Hidalga and the general highway of the South–, will add more trips, especially in the early morning.
With these adjustments, the Cabildo follows what was agreed in the meeting held a month ago with the mayors Gustavo Pérez (Güímar) and Juan Ramón Martín (Arafo) and with the mayor María Concepción Brito (Candelaria). In a statement, the Cabildo government explains that in that meeting “the common objective of improving the public transport service in the region was revealed, making the necessary modifications after the initial period of operation of the reorganization of bus lines started in July”.
The changes made “allow a more efficient and practical service to be provided to travelers, with a new line and the reactivation of the 126, in addition to reducing the duration of trips and transfer times, and improving connections between lines,” he says. the insular councilor for Mobility and president of Titsa, Enrique Arriaga. “The objective is for the bus to become the first option for the displacement of the inhabitants of the Güímar Valley”, explains and clarifies, the also vice president of the Cabildo, that “these changes are also based on the data obtained in the first 45 days that the new network in that region has been operational ”.
The insular director of Mobility, José Alberto León, highlights that the objective is “to further improve the good results obtained so far with the new transport network.” It states that the daily average of travelers has grown by 6.6% compared to the previous year, exceeding 4,200 users. It should be remembered that the reorganization of the bus service in Candelaria, Arafo and Güímar received many complaints from local authorities and users.
