SAN SEBASTIÁN DE LA GOMERA, Aug 26 (EUROPA PRESS) –
A helicopter from the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) rescued a hiker who had been lost in Valle Gran Rey after eight hours of walking early this Thursday.
The rescue device was organized after 00.00 hours when the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert from the affected person informing that he had been lost on the La Dama trail.
Due to the difficulties of the orography of the terrain where he was and the risk that his rescue implied during the night, he was told to remain in the area until early in the morning after verifying that he could spend the night safely until his rescue.
At dawn, AEA personnel located the affected person in an area of difficult access, so it was decided to carry out the rescue by air and the GES helicopter transferred him to the helisurface of Valle Gran Rey.
Volunteer Firefighters enabled the helisurface to land the helicopter and the Local Police made the affiliation of the affected person.
