The mobile unit of the breast cancer early diagnosis program will remain in Los Realejos until next December, located on the esplanade of the old Municipal Market. Although these days it is operational at different times, from September 1, and throughout the stay, it will do so from 08:00 to 21:00 from Monday to Friday. The target population of the early detection program will be served, women between 50 and 69 years old, from Los Realejos and the region that are previously mentioned.
In any case, citizens may go to the aforementioned mobile unit to find out, check the summons – if any – or request its reassignment or a new one, a procedure that can also be carried out by calling the telephone number provided by the Service Canario de la Salud for this, 922922033.
The Canary Islands Health Service alludes to the importance of verifying at all times that the address registered in the system is correct, since the summons is made by post. Once they are treated, they will receive the diagnosis of the mammography tests in an approximate period of 20 to 25 days, which will also be available to the family doctor.
According to 2020 data published by the Government of the Canary Islands, the target population of the archipelago, women between 50 and 69 years old, susceptible to use this screening program was 305,472 people, 131,866 of them in Tenerife. Prevention and early diagnosis continue to be the main allies in trying to control this and other types of diseases and considerably reduce the risk of mortality among citizens.
The presence of the mobile unit of the program for the early diagnosis of breast cancer in Los Realejos is the result of collaboration with the Canarian Health Service of the City Council through its Department of Health and Safety and Emergencies, led by Carolina Toste, with members of the Local Police, and the public water and service companies.
