The mayor of La Orotava, Francisco Linares Garcia, and the Councilor for Sports, Antonio Lima Pérez, held a meeting yesterday with the mountaineer from Orotava Antonio Pérez, to whom they transferred their support to become the first from Tenerife to reach the top of Manaslu Mountain, one of the colossi that are part of the 14 eight thousand of the Himalayas, says the municipal government.

After months of uncertainty, cancellations, postponements, border closures and countless obstacles, on Monday the mountaineer’s dream will begin to materialize, which has been forged as such from a very young age. At just eight years old, Pérez ascended Mount Teide for the first time, despite how “it suffered to do so at that time, holding on to my mother a bit,” he says. Since then, his relationship with the mountain has been very close.

Expeditions are very expensive. In this case, just the permission to access the mountain granted by the Nepalese government costs around 2,000 euros. To this is added that an expedition of this type requires a great logistical preparation, since it is necessary to spend between 20 and 25 days in the base camp. For this reason, Pérez is looking for sponsors that allow him to face this new adventure, which will put the name of La Orotava and Tenerife on one of the highest mountains on the planet. The mountaineer from Orotava has elaborated a plan that also includes a detailed budget for your next expedition, which is scheduled to last until October. His dream also has a solidarity character, since he will represent the Pichon Trail Project, an initiative that seeks to give visibility to people with multiple sclerosis.
