The Cabildo of Tenerife will allocate the next academic year eight million euros for scholarships to students. This was approved by the insular institution in its governing council, in which the bases and calls for scholarships and study aid corresponding to the 2021-2022 school period were addressed. Specifically, there will be four lines: university studies, artistic studies, Vocational Training studies and students with special educational needs.

The insular counselor for Education, Concepción Rivero, indicates in a note that “the Cabildo wants to help families who are currently having difficulties and prevent young people from having to abandon their studies due to lack of resources.” And he points out: «For this reason, the departure from 2021-2022 for scholarships and grants is 7,982,284 euros, almost a million more than in the previous year ».

Rivero emphasizes that «this year, the maximum amount in the lines of university, artistic and Vocational Training studies increases significantly, going from a maximum of 5,000 euros in the past academic year to a maximum of 6,000 euros in 2021-2022, without prejudice to obtaining the additional amount of 500 euros in the case of large families or in which there is a person with a disability or in a situation of dependency ”. Thus, for example, “the highest amounts can range from 1,200 euros for students with special educational needs to 6,500 euros for university and vocational training students.”

In this course, as a novelty, the processing of the scholarships it is simplified and is carried out exclusively electronically, except those of the special education line, which can be processed both electronically and on paper by registration.

The insular director of Education, Isabel Bello, recalls that “the procedures have been simplified by unifying four types of aid for general scholarships in a single application, in order to facilitate the procedures for students and their families. Thus, a person who opts for, for example, scholarships for undergraduate studies and transport aid will only have to fill out one application ”.

In general, the requirements to obtain the aid are the following: habitual residence in Tenerife, family income per person not exceeding 20,000 euros (10,000 in the case of students with special educational needs), enrollment equivalent to one course, includes the press release sent this Tuesday by the Cabildo de Tenerife.

The application deadline for these scholarships and other information can be found on the page www.tenerifejovenyeduca.com, where students and anyone interested in the characteristics of this procedure will be able to access all the data.
