SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug 24 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife approved in its Governing Council the bases and calls for scholarships and study aids corresponding to the 2021-2022 school period, which will have four lines: university studies, artistic studies, Vocational Training studies, and students with educational needs specials.
The insular counselor for Education, Concepción Rivero, indicates in a note that “the Cabildo wants to help families who are currently having difficulties and prevent young people from having to abandon their studies due to lack of resources.
For this reason, he comments, “the 2021-2022 entry for scholarships and grants is 7,982,284 euros, almost a million more than in the previous year”.
Rivero underlines that “this year, the maximum amount in the lines of university, artistic and professional training studies increases significantly, going from a maximum of 5,000 euros in the last year to a maximum of 6,000 euros in 2021-2022, without prejudice to obtain the additional amount of 500 euros in the case of large families or in which there is a person with a disability or in a situation of dependency “.
Thus, for example, “the highest amounts can range from 1,200 euros for students with special educational needs to 6,500 euros for university and vocational training students,” he points out.
In this course, as a novelty, the processing of scholarships is simplified and is carried out exclusively electronically, except those of the special education line, which can be processed both electronically and on paper by registration of entry.
The insular director of Education, Isabel Bello, recalls that “the procedures have been simplified by unifying four types of aid for general scholarships in a single application, in order to facilitate the procedures for students and their families.”
In this way, he continues, “a person who opts for, for example, scholarships for undergraduate studies and transport aid will only have to fill out one instance”.
In general, the requirements to obtain the aid are the following: habitual residence in Tenerife, family income per person not exceeding 20,000 euros (10,000 in the case of students with special educational needs) and enrollment equivalent to one course.
