The City Council of Granadilla de Abona develops the asphalting and road improvement plan covering the period 2020-2023 and that benefits the entire municipality. In the current fiscal year, the works are focused on the midlands area, as well as on San Isidro and the towns along the coast. The Department of Works allocates an initial financial amount of 1.6 million euros.
The mayor, José Domingo Regalado, argues that his government materializes the road reform project planned for four years and that it will affect a hundred streets altogether. The councilor points out that “many of them” have been unconditioned for several decades. This action will add safety and improve the quality of municipal roads, in addition to contributing to economic reactivation and generating employment through this public investment.
So far, the first phase has been concluded in the mid-range area of Granadilla de Abona. The planned interventions are currently being carried out in San Isidro. In fact, the work on Calle Alondra –in the area of Los Cardones– is progressing at a good pace, hoping that they will be completed on time. In addition, for this year another 15 actions were budgeted in the midlands (second phase) and Los Abrigos, for an amount of around 500,000 euros.
María Concepción Cabrera, Councilor for Works, explains that the investment in rehabilitation for this exercise consists of intervening in 15 actions of the centers of mediocrity and in the coastal area of Los Abrigos, «which comes to respond to the demand of the citizens and that will change, to a great extent, the state and the security conditions of specific points where there was no action from a very long time ago”. These are works of surface reform of the pavement in short periods of execution, estimating its beginning and conclusion in several months. The plan includes 99,479.75 euros to condition and improve the Camino Real.
Among the streets affected this year are San Juan Bautista and El Bote, in El Salto; Canales Altas and El Faro, in Cruz de Tea; Amaros, in The Desert; Camino Candelaria, in Charco del Pino, and El Molino, in Santa Lucía. In San Isidro, improvements are contemplated for the Santa María de la Cabeza, Rosario La Maestra, La Palma Island, Gran Canaria Island, Lanzarote Island, Avenida de la Democracia, Hermano Pedro, Parliament, Aguayoda, Sabinosa, Tinguaro, Ángel roads. Navarro, Atxoña, Alondra, El Horno, Princesa Ifara and Corina García Alonso.
