“This proposal does not agree with the line of development that we have proposed for two years in the City Council,” says the mayor, who expresses “very serious doubts regarding the environmental impact of the actions that are proposed in an area of high landscape value of our coast and that public institutions must preserve ”.

“We value the will of the Ministry of Tourism to draw up a strategy to improve our coastline, but a plan of these characteristics cannot be done with the backs of the municipalities involved, without previously establishing any type of agreement, and, especially, without informing or take into account the opinion of the inhabitants of the area themselves, who are the first to be affected by this project, ”says the mayor. The municipal councilor announces his intention to take this position to the Local Government Board next week to later transfer it to the Government of the Canary Islands.

“This group of municipal government is very clear about the strategic lines in terms of improvement and preservation of natural spaces and a sustainable use of our coastline, defending the uniqueness and quality of our bathing areas,” says Luis Yeray Gutiérrez.

“The best example is precisely the path of La Punta del Hidalgo, known as Camino de la Costa, which has recovered the Blue Flag this summer, after several years, and which is a recognition of our work in improving and restoration of this coastal natural and ethnological heritage. It is in this line that we will continue putting all our efforts and we encourage the other administrations to collaborate with us ”, concludes the mayor.
