The National Police has arrested a 42-year-old man in Santa Cruz de Tenerife as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of misappropriation, after apparently causing an accident that only affected his vehicle to get hold of 3,736 euros that he had in the car.
According to the National Police in a statement, after causing the accident the detainee, who is engaged in the collection of bills in a company, summoned the emergency services, Civil Guard and co-workers, among others, to the place and filed a complaint. .
According to the complainant, on the morning of July 19 he had a road departure when he joined the TF-1 at the height of Añaza when he was driving a vehicle of his company, and he argued that at that time some of the people who intervened in his assistance could have seized money that was hidden inside the vehicle.
The proceedings carried out showed that there was no reason to leave the road in this section, that the speed of the vehicle was very slow and that the driver was not injured either.
Given these data, further proceedings were carried out under the hypothesis that the incident was a method of concealment of another crime.
Finally, the investigators were able to prove that it was a forced exit from the road by the driver, to build an alibi that justified the disappearance of the collection.
His eagerness to involve as many people as possible had no other task than to hinder the investigation, so as not to be able to identify the author of the appropriation, adds the National Police.
Finally, and with all the evidence obtained by the national police, the complainant was arrested and the money could not be recovered because it had already been “squandered.”
The proceedings processed, together with the detainee, were made available to the competent judicial authority.
The actions have been carried out by national police from the North District Police Station of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
