On Monday the term opens for the self-employed and micro-SMEs of Puerto de la Cruz to request the second line of aid, endowed with half a million euros that the City Council enables “to consolidate the economic recovery that the municipality is already experiencing.” The mayor, Marco González, highlights that, with respect to the first distribution, the beneficiary sectors are increased, being “especially sensitive to the sectors most affected by the extraordinary measures” derived from the health crisis, such as gyms and sports establishments, merchants of the Municipal Market or taxi drivers, as well as groups such as fishermen. “Although the general amount is 500 euros per application, this amount has been increased to 600 euros in these cases, reaching up to 1,200 euros, serving the most affected sectors.”
This second line of aid also serves to consolidate the economic recovery “that has been taking place in the city for weeks,” a statement supported by good data regarding employment, new contracts and the opening of new commercial premises in Puerto de la Cruz . The councilor recalls that, “with 80% of the hotels open and with very good occupancy data, the quintessential tourist city of the Canary Islands takes up the pulse, to which this new aid that we have obtained in record time will contribute.”
Marco González appreciates the effort and coordinated work of the municipal areas and their professionals, the opposition political groups and the associations that represent the city’s business fabric to make this second line of aid a reality. “It is being an exemplary process of the city to support its small and medium-sized companies, which have resisted this unprecedented situation and promote the recovery that is already being experienced in our streets.”
A special case
The Municipal Market is one of the groups to support, something that the local government highlights. “We continue working so that no one is left behind in this new line of aid within all the improvements that we are providing to this municipal facility.”
The mayor of Porto emphasizes that this aid is in addition to the rest of the initiatives adopted by the City Council, such as a bonus or suspension of fees and taxes, “which have served to support and thank this business effort that has allowed Puerto de la Cruz to be the epicenter of the recovery of economic activity, so linked to tourism in our city, “says the councilor. The bases of the new aid are published in the municipal electronic headquarters. The processing of the application can be done through it or in the register of the City Council by requesting an appointment.
