SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug 21 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The National Police have arrested a 42-year-old man who works collecting bills for a company as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of misappropriation by causing a traffic accident in Santa Cruz de Tenerife to appropriate 3,736 euros that he carried in the vehicle.
According to the Higher Police Headquarters of the Canary Islands, the road accident only affected the car of the man, who despite not suffering injuries immediately notified the emergency services, Civil Guard and co-workers, among others, to come to the place with the aim of hindering the investigation of appropriation.
For his part, it was the one now detained who denounced the theft of the money, explaining that on the morning of July 19 he had a departure from the road when he joined the TF-1, at the height of Añaza, when he was driving a vehicle of his company .
The man pointed out that it was at that moment that some of the people who intervened in his assistance could have seized money that he had hidden inside the vehicle.
However, the proceedings carried out showed that there was no reason to leave the road on that section, that the speed of the vehicle was very slow, and that the driver was not injured either.
For this reason, new investigations were carried out under the hypothesis that the accident was a method of concealment of another crime, proving that it was a forced exit from the road by the driver to build an alibi that would justify the disappearance of the collection.
Likewise, their eagerness to involve as many people as possible had no other task than to hinder the investigation, so as not to be able to identify the author of the appropriation.
Finally, and with all the evidence obtained, the complainant was arrested but the money could not be recovered since the money had already been spent, while the procedures processed, together with the detainee, were made available to the judicial authority competent.
