As every year, and there are already seven, the Altoanna Equestrian Center is organizing a charity golf tournament to raise funds to develop a unique program in the Canary Islands. A program whose objective is to help young people with special needs through horse-assisted therapies.
This tournament will be held soon in the El Peñón Golf Club, in Tacoronte. A date in whiche the Tenerife Association of Equestrian Therapies (ATTE) It will be in charge of seeking funds through companies and private entities to treat these people through hippotherapy.
Therapies in which the Altoanna Equestrian Center is a pioneer since it has been developing them for more than 10 years. Activities in which these young people with special needs, assisted by qualified personnel and with extensive experience (a riding technician, a psychologist, a physiotherapist and assistants from the center) manage to improve on a neurological, mental, physical and social level.
Currently about twenty people with special needs and without sufficient resources are those who receive these therapies thanks to the donations made in the golf tournament of the previous year.
These are individual and group therapies that last an average of nine months, and for which a horse is available that is specially trained and prepared for it. A very docile animal that adapts to these people.
The Altoanna Equestrian Center, owned by Alfonso Mestres, It stands out for its sensitivity and respect, and for taking into account the adaptability of these people. Also for affection, equality, commitment and creativity. And without a doubt, for its good results. They treat and help, with much love, people who have a physical, mental or sensory disability.
Without a doubt, Altoanna’s motto is to bring horse riding closer to everyone. Not only with classes to learn to ride a horse but with therapies to change, as far as possible, the lives of people who have difficulties to express themselves, take care of themselves and behave autonomously.
