The Council destine 150,000 euros in aid to improve the quality of sheep and goat milk destined to the elaboration of the cheese.
Interested natural or legal persons will be able to access these subsidies granted by the Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing Area, directed by the insular councilor Javier Parrilla, once the call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP).
The economic item is destined to the execution of programs to improve the quality of sheep and goat milk produced in cattle farms on the Island and of the products obtained in dairy farms and artisanal cheese factories.
The Insular Government Council approved last Tuesday the announcement of these subsidies, which are governed by the non-competitive competition procedure. “Consumer confidence and credibility with local products is due to food safety,” explains Parrilla. The counselor adds that “this safe consumption of our products causes it to displace outsiders of those who, on occasions, we do not know what and how their production chain is”. And underlines to emphasize the idea: “We must integrate the concept of local product to consumer interests in health, well-being, sustainability and food safety.”
Javier Parrilla recalls that This line of aid is added to others that have already been called this year from the Cabildo within the livestock subsector. Among them, those destined to defray the expenses of feeding of the species of ovine, goat, bovine, pig, rabbit and poultry in the cattle exploitations of the island, with an amount of 1,355,000 euros; those aimed at livestock health defense groups, with a total of 100,000 euros; or, in the field of beekeeping, complementary feeding of bees, with 80,800 euros. Likewise, the call for aid to the feeding of the sufficiently-bred cattle will soon be out, with a total amount of 100,000 euros.
Direct aid is also planned for a vital infrastructure for the subsector, such as the Tenerife Island Slaughterhouse, which will receive more than 924,000 euros for operating, maintenance and works expenses.
Once the call for the aforementioned subsidies has been published in the BOP for the execution of programs aimed at improving the quality of sheep and goat milk produced in cattle farms on the Island, the application form and the bases are available. of people interested in the electronic headquarters of the Cabildo (https://sede.tenerife.es/). Products obtained in dairy farms and artisan cheese factories can also be accepted. In the same way, they may request information about the aid from the Agrarian Extension and Rural Development Agencies of the Insular Corporation through the citizen service telephone number 901 501 901.
