SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug 17 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands reports this Tuesday that the Nursing teams of the Canary Health Service have administered 2,783,279 doses of vaccines until this Monday, which represents 93.65 percent of the 2,971,940 received .
In the archipelago, 80.90 percent of the target population – those over 12 years of age which amounts to 1,960,774 people – is already vaccinated against Covid-19, since there are already 1,586,348 people who have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
This means that 84.78 percent of those over 16 years of age (who were the target population when the campaign began) have at least one dose.
In addition, until yesterday, 1,348,584 people who have already received the complete vaccination schedule had been immunized, which represents 68.8 percent of the target population of the archipelago.
If the initial target population (those over 16 years of age) in the Canary Islands is taken as a reference, 72.07 percent are already immunized.
At present, groups from 1 to 7 (residents and health and social health personnel of residences; health personnel; large dependents and main caregivers; vulnerable people; groups with essential functions such as teachers and policemen and people with very high risk conditions) are already vaccinated with two doses between 99.5 and 100%.
In the rest of the groups, people between 60 and 65 years old reach 81.97 percent with at least one dose and 58.52 percent with a complete regimen; people between 50 and 59 years old, 94.38% with at least one dose and 94.54% with a complete regimen and people between 40 and 49 years old, 58.45% with at least one dose and 72.99 percent with a complete regimen – they include those immunized with Janssen, which is a single-dose vaccine.
Likewise, people between 30 and 39 years old represent 61.10 percent with at least one dose and 47.46 percent with a complete regimen; between 20 and 29 years old, 55.40% with one dose and 31.91% with the complete regimen and those between 12 and 19 years old, 61.70% with one dose and 10.88% with complete guideline.
The vaccination calendar continues its course and the Ministry of Health insists on the need for citizens not to miss their appointments to get vaccinated or to go to the multiple vaccination points without an appointment that are in all the islands.
Along these lines, it states that more than 70 percent of those hospitalized with Covid-19 at the moment were not immunized and that 77 percent of admissions to the ICU in Canarian hospitals occur in unimmunized people.
