SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Canary Coalition (CC) -PNC has considered that the meeting held between the President of the Canary Islands and that of the Government of Spain, Ángel Víctor Torres and Pedro Sánchez, respectively, this Wednesday on the island of Lanzarote shows Torres’ “weakness” in a “crucial” moment for the archipelago, since it has a “more complicated” way out of the crisis in relation to other territories.
For CC it is a “shame” Torres’s “attempt” to “make pass a formal meeting with Pedro Sánchez at a Canary-State summit”, which he understands should have been held “with an agenda, work teams and transparency to advance in vital issues “for the islands, among which they cite the liquidation of the road debt, the transfer of coastal powers, the migratory crisis, the Tourist Rescue Plan, the future of the banana and the ERTE or the distribution of European recovery funds, among others.
Likewise, the nationalists have criticized in a statement the “contempt” and “unconcern” of the president of the central Government to the Canary Islands and its institutions, since they emphasize that the archipelago is “much more than a holiday destination and should be a priority in its agenda as are other territories “.
In this regard, they have lamented the “lack of interest” of Pedro Sánchez to know the reality that Lanzarote is experiencing in terms of immigration, since they add that “a short distance” from where the meeting between the two leaders was taking place “a a camp for migrants on the dock of Puerto Naos; a new camp of shame while Torres and Sánchez looked the other way. “
