The Teguestero town of Pedro Álvarez has enjoyed some festivals in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus marked by the sanitary restrictions of the pandemic and but with the same desire as always to comply with tradition. They concluded Sunday with various musical, religious and family entertainment activities for all ages.

The mayor of the Municipal Corporation, Ana Mena, highlighted “the great organization of the different departments and participating entities so that each of the activities could be held in complete safety, following the protocols established by the health authorities.” Thus, the program of events, organized by the Department of Festivities directed by the mayor Eladia López, had the participation of the folk groups Pedro Álvarez and Lava y Picón and the celebration of a religious function that culminated with a fireworks display. Then another religious act was held in the church of Pedro Álvarez with the participation and accompaniment of the San Marcos Musical Group, to end with the children’s show La Varita Mágica.

It was a program that, in the words of the Councilor for Festivities, Eladia López, «has sought to keep alive the spirit of this traditional celebration among the neighbors, despite the limitations derived from the Covid-19“, Of whom he highlighted their” commitment “and” collective responsibility “during the festivities. In addition, the neighborhood church remained open at different times to facilitate the collection of food for the most vulnerable groups in the municipality.
