Tenerife achieves 25 awards in the world extreme wine competition

The wines of Tenerife have achieved 25 awards in the tenth edition of the world extreme wine competition, Cervim 2021, held last month in the Aosta Valley (Italy), in which nearly a thousand varieties from Spain, Italy, France, Chile or Canada, among other countries, participated.

Tenerife has achieved two Great Gold Medals Of the 18 awarded in this category, 22 Gold Medals and a Silver Medal, which adds up to 25 awards distributed among six wineries on the island, the Island Council reported this Wednesday in a statement.

The two awards in the Great Gold Medal category are the 2017 Ainhoa ​​Dulce wine, from Balcón de La Laguna Wineries, of the Canary Islands PDO, and the Dry White Ayosa Mists 2020, of the SAT Viticultores Comarca de Güímar, in Arafo, of the DOP Valle de Güímar.

“It’s about a outstanding recognition for a small territory and emerging, but with wineries of great know-how and personality “, has celebrated the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Javier Parrilla.

The Center for Research, Study and Valorization of Mountain Viticulture (Cervim), which organizes this contest, is an international entity established in 1987 to value and safeguard the so-called “heroic viticulture” by be carried out in extreme conditions, on small areas or on “considerable” slopes.

It is associated with regions and regional and national organizations that work to promote this type of viticulture, as is the case with the Cabildo de Tenerife.
