A unit of the Local Police of Puerto de la Cruz dedicated specifically to abandoned vehicles has allowed the City Council to remove 40 of them from public roads in the first half of the year.

The Local Police have been working since the beginning of this year on this new team created for the detection and subsequent transfer of these cars that impaired the normal use of the municipality’s streets, in addition to damaging the image of the tourist city.

“It is about responding to a demand from the citizens of Porto that has been requiring a quick and direct action by the Local Police in the face of this type of incident,” remarked the mayor, the socialist Marco González. The councilman appreciates the citizen collaboration that, using the Green Line application, has been denouncing the situation of these vehicles in different areas of the city.

Línea Verde is a simple and intuitive application for mobile phones that facilitates the work of the different municipal areas, in this case, to the Local Police in the removal of abandoned vehicles. “Facilitating coexistence in a city with such a density of population and with so few square kilometers is a clear objective that we intend from the Security area,” said Marco González.

“For us, citizen collaboration is essential, not only to report these types of events, but also to make them participate in improving safety on the streets of our city,” concluded the mayor.
