The agony continues to try save the municipal swimming pool of Los Silos, in the north of Tenerife. To the unanimous support shown in one of the last island plenary sessions and to a collection of signatures that already has more than 2,300 petitions, a new CC claim has been added.
The organizing secretary of the Canary Island Coalition of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, has sent formal requests to the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, and to the Government Delegate, Anselmo Pestana, to intercede with the General Directorate of Coasts to prevent the demolition of the Los Silos pools.
Dávila has asked the two public representatives to intercede in what seems to be a change of criteria of different services of the same General Directorate of Coasts and the Sea, as reported by the political party this Tuesday in a statement.
In the letters, signed as vice president of the Canary Islands Parliament, Dávila explains that on August 2, the Los Silos City Council presented the Allegations to the request for a concession to legalize the facilities of the municipal swimming pool of the port.
The regional deputy also recalled that the institutional agreements adopted unanimously in the plenary session of the City Council and in the Council of Tenerife state that these are pools that the municipality of Los Silos has had in the last 50 years.
“The City Council is immersed in an administrative process for a new concession for 30 more years. The proposal that the Provincial Service of Coasts Tenerife submits to the General Directorate of Coasts and the Sea belonging to the Ministry of Ecological Transition is a favorable report from dated April 14, 2021, “explained Dávila.
However, the Sub-Directorate General for Public Terrestrial Domain, which also belongs to the same Directorate General, has asked Los Silos to present allegations, since “everything seems to indicate” that they are going to depart from the favorable proposal of the Provincial Coastal Service and your proposal will be demolition, said the secretary of organization of CC.
The letter explains that due to the conversations held by the mayor of Los Silos with the head of the service responsible for the file in Madrid, the Los Silos pools run a “serious risk” of being demolished.
“The City Council has delivered all the documentation that proves the serious damage to the environment, to the economy and to the residents of Los Silos, the northeast region of Tenerife and in general for the people of Tenerife,” concluded Dávila.
