The Heritage area of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has communicated the availability of the site for the construction of the future high-rise car park located on Carrer de La Noria. This is a new administrative step so that the municipal society Viviendas Municipales can continue promoting this file, the next step of which will consist of the drafting of the execution project, which will be commissioned before the end of this year.
The mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, highlighted this project as “key to solving a lack of parking in the area, which not only affects residents, but also those who come to the city to do their shopping or enjoy its gastronomy” . For the councilor, this type of infrastructure, together with the promotion of public transport, “facilitates access and mobility in the city and serves, among other things, to promote and encourage consumption in Santa Cruz.”
The file is being promoted by the Housing area, which in its previous studies has calculated that the investment necessary for the construction of this parking lot will be slightly more than seven million euros. It will be located on a plot between Miraflores and Antonio Domínguez Alfonso streets, next to the Serrador bridge, and its construction will generate a public surface on its roof that “may be enabled as a public square, children’s area or to house a municipal facility in a part” , as explained by the area councilor, Juan José Martínez.
This surface would be at the same level as the level of the Guimerá area and the bridge itself. Martínez added that they are currently working on the “hiring of an economic study on the project itself and the future exploitation of the building”
The property, which could house about 180 parking spaces, will have a surface area of more than 2,400 square meters that can be used for offices and commercial premises, and will allow, in addition to the aforementioned plaza on its roof, to generate another public space in the own street of La Noria.
