New Canary Islands in Tenerife has announced this Saturday that it will propose to the National Executive the adoption of an agreement to explicitly reject the port of Fonsalía for its environmental impact.
At the same time, it suggests the combined use of the Los Cristianos and Granadilla compared to the infrastructure projected in Guía de Isora, which defines it as “unnecessary, ineffective and unsustainable”.
The political formation considers that this mega infrastructure is not justified from the point of view of the provision of the public service of maritime transport and that it will cause irreparable environmental damage.
“Our training firmly and sincerely defends a sustainable development model for Tenerife and the Canary Islands, in which unnecessary, ineffective and unsustainable projects such as Fonsalía’s have no place,” says its territorial coordinator, Valentín Correa.
Nueva Canarias reiterates its commitment to the economic and social development of the Island: “The defense of these principles and the general interest of all Canaries are what justify the existence of a party like ours, which should be at the head of the opposition to the project, in line with what we are sure, is already a majority opinion of the Tenerife and Canary Islands society ”.
